Description

When configuring Match and Merge to connect to a Named SQL Server Instance or using a non-standard port, a user receives one of the following errors: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Invalid Instance()).]Invalid Connection or [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Summary

These error messages indicate there is an issue connecting to Microsoft SQL Server.  A user may encounter this issue when using a non-standard SQL port (the default port is 1433) or when trying to connect to a named instance which does not use port 1433 by default.

To resolve these errors, on the Connection Properties screen of the Match and Merge Configuration Wizard, the user should enter the correct port number in the Server field.

Type the Server Name followed by a comma, and then the correct port number in the Server field.

Example: WIN2008,1452

Once the correct information has been entered, click the Connect button.  The Match and Merge wizard should now successfully connect to Microsoft SQL Server and populate the Lookup Table field.
