Description

PaperVision Tools offers powerful functionality for scanning to PaperVision Enterprise or to ImageSilo. Kodak i1200 series scanners have Smart touch technology that can integrate with PaperVision Tools. This article describes how to configure your Kodak i1200 series scanner to scan directly to PaperVision Enterprise or ImageSilo with the touch of a button.

Summary

Before configuring your scanner, it’s important that you first ensure you have installed the latest version of PaperVision Tools as well as the latest Smart touch application from Kodak.

  1. Launch the Kodak Smart touch configuration tool.
  2. From the Task shortcut pull-down menu, select any number 1-9 that you would like to assign a Scan2PVE profile.
  3. Click the Rename button to give the profile a meaningful name, and then click OK to save.
  4. In the Scan To section, click the Destination pull-down menu and select Application.
  5. Click the New icon next to the pull-down menu to open the “New” window.
  6. Name the Destination anything you’d like, for example: PV Tools.
  7. Click the Browse button and select PVEExplorerShortcut.exe located at: [Program Files]/Digitech Systems/PaperVision Tools.
  8. Click OK to confirm the selection.
  9. Click on the File type pull-down menu and select your preference. Depending on the file type you choose, you can set the OCR language by clicking on the Settings button to the right of the pull-down menu.
  10. Click the Browse button next to the Folder section and browse to a location where the scanned images will be stored. TIP: This Folder location is a temporary location used to store the scanned documents before they are uploaded to PVE or ImageSilo, therefore the folder name or location is not important.
  11. Set a desired File name prefix if you would like, or you can leave it blank.
  12. In the Scan As section, click on the Settings button to choose your preferred image settings.
  13. Once you have configured the Smart touch settings, click OK to save the profile.
  14. Ensure that the number shown on the Kodak scanner display matches the number of the Task Shortcut of the profile you created in Smart touch, and then press the scan button on the Kodak scanner.
  15. If prompted, configure your settings for PaperVision Tools.

TIP: If you have more than one Entity and would like to choose which Entity to scan to each time, click on the Display Client ID check box in the PaperVision Tools Options.

  1. Enter your user name and password information at the login screen, and then click OK to continue.

TIP: If you will be logging in using the same user name and password each time you scan, select the Save my user name and password option to automatically bypass this screen.

  1. You will be prompted to choose the project and any index field values for the document. When you have finished entering this information, click the Save button.
  2. The document will then be uploaded to PaperVision Enterprise or ImageSilo for immediate viewing.

NOTE:

Once the user has completed these steps, they will be fully configured for one-touch scanning to PaperVision Enterprise. If the user wishes to have multiple scanning profiles, simply create a new profile in the Smart touch configuration console and assign it to a specific number between 1 and 9.  To scan to PaperVision Enterprise using that profile, simply select the corresponding number on the Kodak scanner and press the scan button.  Note that the user needs to select a multipage file format if scanning multiple pages to a single document.
