Description

When printing documents (or Document Grants) from the Browser-Based Viewer, headers and footers are included on the printed document.

Summary

When using the Browser-Based Viewer to view documents, the print function is handled by the selected browser. Depending on the browser, headers and footers may be automatically be added to the printed output.  By default, Internet Explorer typically includes the title of the page, page count, URL, as well as the date and time in the header and/or footer of a printed page.

To prevent the printing of headers and footers, the user can click the Open icon from the Browser-Based Viewer which will open the document in its native application.  From there, the user can print the document using that application instead of printing through the browser.

An alternative is to disable the printing of headers and footers in the browser. This change will impact all printing through the browser, not just documents that were opened using the Browser-Based Viewer.

To disable the printing of headers and footers in Internet Explorer:

  1. Launch Internet Explorer.
  2. If necessary, press the “ALT” key to display the toolbar for the browser.
  3. From the toolbar, click File > Page Setup.
  4. From the Page Setup window, under the Headers and Footers section; select –Empty- from the drop-down box for each of the items that should be excluded from the printed output (e.g. Header, Footer, etc.).
  5. Click OK to save the changes.  All documents that are printed using Internet Explorer will no longer include this information. The print settings are persisted until the browser is “reset”.

To disable the printing of headers and footers in Mozilla FireFox:

  1. Launch FireFox.
  2. If necessary, press the “ALT” key to display the toolbar for the browser.
  3. From the toolbar, click File > Page Setup.
  4. Select the Headers and Footers tab.
  5. Select –blank- from the drop-down box for each of the items that should be excluded from the printed output (e.g. Headers, Footers, etc.).
  6. Click OK to save the changes. All documents that are printed using FireFox will no longer include this information. The print settings are persisted until the browser is “reset”.
