Description

How to configure the IP address and port on which the PaperVision Capture Gateway server will receive connections.

Summary

You may find the need to change the IP address or port settings of the PaperVision Capture Gateway server. This can easily be completed by following the instructions below.

Modifying the PaperVision Capture Gateway IP address and configure the Operator Console to connect using this Gateway server:

  1. From the machine hosting the PaperVision Capture Gateway Server, click Start > All Programs > Digitech Systems > PaperVision Capture Setup Tool.
  2. Click “Gateway” on the left hand side of the window to display the Gateway settings.
  3. From the Gateway configuration window, go to the Server Configuration section and locate the Gateway IP address section.
  4. The Gateway IP address determines which IP address the Gateway server uses to communicate. Select the desired IP address that will accept incoming connections from the Operator Consoles. Select “All” to have the Gateway server accept connections on any IP address.
  5. From the remote client workstation, click Start > All Programs > Digitech Systems > PaperVision Capture Setup Tool.
  6. Click “Gateway” on the left hand side of the window to display the Gateway settings.
  7. From the Gateway configuration window, under the section Connection Type, ensure the Remote Gateway option is selected.
  8. Enter the name or IP address of the Gateway server (configured above) and click save. If any connection errors are logged in the Windows Event Viewer, you may have to open up the port on the firewall on the Gateway Server.

Modifying the PaperVision Capture Gateway port number and configure the Operator Console to connect using this Gateway server port:

  1. From the machine hosting the PaperVision Capture Gateway Server, click Start > All Programs > Digitech Systems > PaperVision Capture Setup Tool.
  2. Click “Gateway” on the left hand side of the window to display the Gateway settings.
  3. From the Gateway configuration window, go to the Server Configuration section and locate the Gateway IP address and port section. The Gateway server will only receive connections on this port. The default port is set to port 80 during install. Since IIS also uses port 80 as the default website port, you will want to change it to another port number such as 8080. Verify the port is not already in use before using a specific port number.
  4. From the remote client workstation, click Start > All Programs > Digitech Systems > PaperVision Capture Setup Tool.
  5. Click “Gateway” on the left hand side of the window to display the Gateway settings.
  6. From the Gateway configuration window, under the section Connection Type, ensure the Remote Gateway option is selected.
  7. Enter the appropriate port number (configured above) and click Save. If any connection errors are logged in the Windows Event Viewer, you may have to open up the port on the firewall on the Gateway Server

Note: This article assumes that you installed the Gateway server component during the PaperVision Capture installation.
