PaperVision Enterprise allows administrators the option to hide the standard browser menu (containing Back button, etc.) when using the PaperVision Enterprise web client. This is a global setting that can be changed on the server and will affect all users accessing the system. This article demonstrates how to make this simple configuration change.


By default, the PaperVision Enterprise local client (Client installation option) hides the browser menus from being displayed. Some users may want to have access to the menus for features such as the Back button. This article explains how to display the browser menus on one instance of the PaperVision Enterprise local client.


Users may be prompted for their Window’s user name and password when browsing to the Authentication Gateway web site. To fix this issue, users need to change the user authentication security settings in Internet Explorer.

When scanning into PaperVision Enterprise, the following error is returned: “Error -2147220482: TwainPro Error. Illegal Operation has occured. PegasusImaging.TWAINPRO.4”

While signing into PaperVision Enterprise, the following error is displayed: “Error: -2147217911. The execute permission was denied on the object.”

Users may get this error after upgrading the PaperVision server:
Error: 374 Description: Failed to activate control ‘VB.UserControl’. This control may be incompatible with your application. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application. Source: PVEntClient.


You can change the default “Open Documents in New Window” so that all users are initially configured with the desired setting. By default, this option is enabled, but by editing a simple configuration file, this option can be set to disabled. Note: users will still be able to manually change this setting for their own web client.


When attempting to view a document, the user receives the following error: Error: 13-Type Mismatch (Source:HTTPHandlerEx.HTTPHandler_NonAdmin.PVDMSystem) This error occurs when attempting to view a document through the PaperVision website. Other users may not be experiencing this issue.

The PaperVision Enterprise website stops functioning after installing new software. If you try to start the PaperVision website this error is thrown: Unexpected error 0x8ffe2740 occurred.

Particularly after new database connections are configured, users may encounter this error in PaperVision Enterprise. The error indicates that the instance of SQL Server involved is configured to use Windows Authentication rather than Mixed Mode Authentication, and the current user is failing to authenticate.
